Hi,
Ive just bought a boat with my son and I seem to have a charging fault, it could be as simple s a wire or an alternater fault, well prior to using the boat I would like a lecky to cast their magic eye over it for me so if you have the knowledge or know a man wot has, please contact me, cash awaiting (not a lot!!)
Pete,
we could try an sort this out here but first need to know if you are outboard or inboard could be a simple jank alternator but lets start with what engine
Hiya mate, it's a GM diesel, V8 6.2l and I'm told its been an intermittent fault, tonight I'm just going to pop the dash to make sure there isn't a wire off (I wish), then thats the total scope of my knowledge of vehicle/ Marine electronics
Pete.
Been feelin' like the weather so I've not done anything, going down later to put wipers on with son so might just give it a spin up and see whats what?, thanks for asking mate,
Pete,
Well with batteries charged, leg lifts ok so I assume batteries good, it seems that starter or solenoid just click, so I need a bendy person who can shake some lead to see if its solenoid switch wire,,, ok could it be that easy
I'm hoping to get one of my sons to do the screwdriver trick later on today, although i'm a lot happier knowing the batteries are good, recieved my 4.8amp solar panel from ebay today as well so all looking good!!!
Pete.
recieved my 4.8w solar panel,, cool,, everybody has failed to get to the starter so my son No1 is giong to take off the starboard exhaust manifold and that should give access (Hopefully) lol lol
Will keep you posted, if you hear a cheer coming from Kemps this weekend you know its a starter and not an engine rebuild!!
Pete,
You should have heard the cheer on saturday when 6.2Ltre of v8 diesel burst into life!!!! wow that was a good feeling!, front windows in half the headlinings in, just side windows and the rest of th side and headlining,,,,,,,,
Pete.
