mankini brothers on tour walton pier 15th march..another pb

Post by aston74 »

myself and the snaggosaurus headed off to walton for an evening session
we took a steady run up there in snaggers pocket rocket !!!!!!! 120 mph all the way

we arrived at about midday to a very misty pier
we trudged to the lifeboat station and set up

it was pretty quiet from the off as h/t was about 8pm

by the time h/t arrived, all i had was a pin whiting, snagger had 6 or 7 whiting and codling

lots of little nibbles ( probably crabs )

after h/t it picked up quite a bit
in the end i had 10 fish, and i think tim had 14 or 15

biggest fish of the day went to me :D :D :D :D :D :D

a cracking early doggy of 63 cms, a fat little fella well over 2lbs.
we were still getting bites as we left at approx 11pm cos the fog was closing in
a very mixed bag of fish that is always nice to see
i had a doggy, whiting, codling and a dab
tim had codling, whiting and a POUTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all the little codling were fat little fellas, lets hope the return later in the year
a very pleasant afternoon and evenings fishing

tim took the pics, i am sure they will be posted later by him

Hi all,

As Roy (Aston74) said, we had a pretty good session, I was expecting the

mist to clear but it stayed with us for the whole day all but an hour about 4ish,

everything was ringing wet due to all the moisture in the air.

Pic taken just before the mist lifted for a short time:-(Roy)

My base camp ;) (Tim)

we tried numerous bait's and cocktails of them, squid, Mackerel, live Lug

worm (Giants they were), Salted lug worm, Salted rag worm, Peeler crab,

sprats, Dungie blacks and I even tried some cornish pasty crust :D.

Rigs varied too with hook sizes 1.0 - 6.0, 2 hook fixed paternoster, 3 hook twisted wire boom rigs,

pulley and penal pulley rigs, Roy had what he called his Disco Rigs (loads

of Bling and a starlight too), I found the best rig and bait combo to be a

2 hook fixed paternoster with live / salted lug worm with a flag of squid.

pics of a few of the day's catch:-

The crabs were on the war path too:-(4inch edible on bottom hook)

I had a total of 14:-
1 x Pouting
3 x Whiting
10 x Codling

Roy had a total of 10:-
Whiting
Codling
Dab
and a 63cm Dog Fish (What a cracking fish, well done mate)

as you can see I have altered the Butt and the Tip Sections.

While we were there the RNLI went out on what looked like a training trip

so I took a couple of pics as they came back to the pier:-
