Tilbury Fort Fishing Report Saturday 08th Aug

Post by macer »

Decided at the last minute to change venue as my 3 year old son (mini macer) wanted to go on his first sea fishing trip. As the walls are pretty high I thought Tilbury Fort would be a good choice of venue. Arrived at 11 am after picking up some fresh lug & rag from Canvey and fished 3.5 hours up and 2.5 hours down. Used three rods, 2no. 3 hook flappers with rag and lug on, one lobbed out and the other right below the rod and the third with a pulley pennel with some fairly large rag binded with bait elastic and lobbed out.

Fishing was very slow with only a few nibbles up to high tide and the majority of rigs coming back completly stripped within minutes. About 1 hour into the ebb we had a bit of action on the middle rod with a nice little flattie on rag......

Of course I made a big fuss as it was mini macer's first fish ever >:D< .

After that a few more good pulls on the rods, unfortunately I could not connect with any of them X( X( Unless of course the crabs have been down the gym since my last visit ?? 8-}

So mission accomplished as mini macer can't wait to go fishing with his Daddy again.

Cheers macer :D :D

Thanks for the replies guys.....

On the way back to the car we stopped and spoke to a few of the other people fishing there and it would appear that most had a poor day.

Cheers macer
