Hi guys I wonder if I can get some advice I'm new to sea fishing as i have just crossed over from fresh and im off to Dungeness next week and would like some ideas on rigs , preferably a simple starter set up ,bait and what species would be best to go for . Any feedback would be appreciated and thanks in advance to any answers.
I almost always use a two hook clipped down rig in situations like Dungie with a 4-5 oz grip lead sinker and take a couple of spares just in case.
In the summer and going into autumn, it has to be bass with mackerel strip for bait but get a few worms in case the fish prefer something different. I use size 2/0 hooks - long shank Aberdeens for worm and bait holder semi-circles for the mackerel strip.

There's a lot more to fishing Dungeness- the tide can rip through so you would do well to take heavier leads than 4-5 ozs and you should have some fixed wire leads just in case. I've sent you a link via PM to a comprehensive guide to fishing at Dungeness- the guidance from Matchman is particularly helpful- he runs a tackle shop on the kent coast and is a mine of info.
Good Luck

Hi guys,
Would like to give Dungie a go myself but live up in Essex and have only fished off there once before on a boat so any advice of where to fish would be much appreciated along with baits, where to park and local tackle shops.
Now seem to have a lot of time on my hands as recently been made redundant and with not a lot of money available its amazing how cheap fishing really is if you can keep all your tackle and maybe plate a fish or two.
Cheers
Matt

Hi Baitman,
Thanks for the offer, I am based near Romford but driving should not be a problem, its just a chance to try other venues now that I seem to have some time on my side and I would expect that my Father would like to come along also.
What would be great is if we could tag along and get a feel for location, methods, baits etc.
But if you can send us a message next time you go that would be much appreciated, hopefully by then the sky will have run out of rain to deposit.
Cheers
