st marys again 5th

Post by dabhand » Sun May 06, 2012 7:40 pm

thought we would come here again as there was a good westerly wind blowing onshore and thought it might stir it up nicely for some repeat good bass fishing.
we arrived at 10, high water at 12.45
it was bloody cold down there for this time of year and the tide came pretty high up the wall, even swamping our bonnie.
we used lug and rag.
it started slow and we didnt do as well as a fortnight ago but we still managed some fish.
total was 7 bass to 2lb and 2 decent flounder.
the biggest shock though was my mates young boy was using a crappy plastic telescopic rod and reel costing 2quid from pound land with a single hook on a 3oz lead dropped literally at the edge of the rocks no more than say 20 feet out and had a cracking 1 and half pound eel!!
lets say he was over the moon but not as shocked as we were.
so another great day despite the cold at my top venue

Sounds like a great day out for the lad, bet he's pestering his dad for the next fishing trip which could cost him a few bob when the lad wants to upgrade his gear lol
Cheers

I think they call thats "Sod's law". LOL.
Nice to see someone getting out and a post on here - been really quiet lately. Not been out myself because of recovering from an operation, too much work, bad weather and a whole host of other reasons - none of which really justifies not getting off my arse and going fishing.
