12-11-11 samphire hoe report

fished samphire today, used blacks, lug ,squid and rags ,, catch ....
1 silver eel
1 whiting
1 dog
17 poults
3 bass biggest 1.8
enjoyed it cound"nt face going to admiralty pier and fishing with 50+ anglers all trying to catch a codling :-/

Well done with the catch.

I must admit, Samphire is one of my favourite venues as it always throws up a suprise and I too would much prefer that to fishing in cramped conditions on a crowded pier. Its not particulalry easy fishing on the hoe and I think thats why its given a wide berth by many.

Did you loose much gear? I normally go with two rods, 30lb straight through with rotton bottom on the set up for close in work (where it tends to be very snaggy) and the other I put out at maxumin range which tends to clear the worse of the snags.

It wont be long now til we see some deceent codling coming up from the Hoe, I've had some of my best fish here. I'm going to try and get a few sessions down there in the next couple of months (weather permitting). I'll post with the results.
