mulling over the mullet!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by t_rex_hunt » Sun Jun 05, 2011 3:30 pm

hey, hi guys!

new to this forum but not new to fishing, so 1stly hello.

and now my main topic, i live here in gillingham and have done some research into these mullet around here.

i had one small one last weekend with the mrs, we was near rochester bridge.
and it felt great to still be able to pull one of these from the med!

what i wanted to know really was this.........
i have found a rather nice little tidal lagoon on the left hand side of the medway tunnel by the cmdonalds there.
i have been baiting it for a week now, and will be giving it its first try this weekend, i have saat there for hours watching the flood come in and its a really nice spot , almost like a david attenbourough film.
i just wondered if anyone else has tried it here?

cheers.

yeah hi garry.

of course i will let you know m8.

it just seems ideal to me, no people, freshwater outfall at the end, very quiet etc.

pics will follow hopefully!

well. took a day off today, couldnt wait any longer.
its been baited for over a week.
anyway..........
basically, nothing, nothing at all.
fished it an hour both sides of h/w and just as i was about to leave, along came 'mr council jobsworth', parked at the top in his landrover.
he walked down to me and kindly explained i was on camera and it was infact private property.
i told him i had no idea it was, and they were wencome to it, as its fishless!
oh well, worth a shot but back to the main river for me now on!

Hi,
I used to fish off the wall on the aggregate yard there, they used to be ok with it but, alas, not now. Won't let you near the place. I did fish Whitewall Creek a couple of times, the place you are talking about I think. 2 mullet glided by repeatedly on one occassion, I did tie a made up rig out of what I had but they showed no interest in my offerings.

The guy who owns the tackle shop in Chatham near the tax office has a son who used to specialise in mullet on the medway, I've seen pictures to confirm his success. He might be worth a visit for a bit of local knowledge.

I live close to the medway and it seems to be getting harder to find good spots to fish from, but good luck in your hunt!! And welcome to the forum.

Martin
