Tried Dengemarsh for the first time yesterday. Sunny, breezy but the water was reasonably flat. Fishes 10.30 to 14.30. One bite - one fish, a 7lbs bass. This was my first bass and a real thrill as well - lucky perhaps, as other were not catching match (just saw one eel). Bass caught on mackrel.

Well done Mercury, a fantastic fish - I have never caught a bass, so am very envious. What bait/tackle were you using?

BTW, do you still need a 4WD vehicle to get to Dengemarsh lol??

Used a bomber rig with a 3/0 hook. The bait was mackrel and I drove a skoda scout there (a 4x4 estate with a raised suspension) but it would have been p[ossible in a car.
I smile everytime I think about the fish - pathetic I know - it's my best fish since taking up beach fishing 2 years ago.

Thanks Mercury, I must give it a try (I am only 15 or 20 minutes from Dengemarsh, but have been put off by the reports of potholes).
