Sandwich Bay nice Ray 27/04/09

Fished 10 hour session last day - night. Started at around 5pm. on the low tide with chest waiders, nothing till about 10pm. (2hr into high tide). Started off with small whiting then came doggies (4x nice sized), about 12am. (within 1/2 hour space) I got two Smooth Hound, only puppy size but I can now add them to my species list. Then nothing till 1am when my line just suddenly dropped flat, grabbed rod from the rest reeled in excess line and same happend again, reeled the excess line again and went for it. I have herd from friends and read on the forum that ray feels like weed or plastic bag at the end of the rood and from the beggining I knew that I got one and that is a good size one!
After couple of minutes struggle I have landed fantastic 10lb 4oz female ray (weighted on the scale from fisherman next to me - thanks!). Finally after about ten trips to Sandwich Bay in last five weeks I got my ray (good one too). Enjoyed last night so much that I have decided to go again tonight with my mate to try and better my record in Minnis Bay tonight!
