bit late ,but sorry folks.went camping down Weymouth way with the family 8th -14th aug.meet up with a mate from Dorchester who fishes the area a lot with the fly rod.after chucking truck loads of rotten seaweed with maggots into the water, smelly I must say,we waited for the mullet to show and they did.nigle was first in a small mullet, then in again 2-3lber.still learning this art of fly fishing, casting less then 6ft from the shore line and a foam immatation maggot, which I had none.watched nigle stealth fish and hooked up.20min fight had me netting a 6lb +thick lipped.awesome fish.i didn't get anything but the location is brilliant and the knowledge has been gained

6LB tick lip! That's some fish. Never tried for the maggot feeders. That would make a good article for the mag if you and Nigel are up for it. Good to see you are still having a go with the fly Mick. Cheers, Col.

its a messy way of fishing colin.
spring tides with sw blow, like what we have had ,needs to push the weed up to rot and allow the flies to layeggs.nxt springs come up and wash the maggots in to the water, hence the mullet arrive.it was hard work but asusual depends on the weather.lovely place to fish just for landscape but you've got to watch for the odd land slide.
