hi guys, i live in budleigh, theres only 4 places on budleigh beach worth fishing during the day, 1st is down the river mouth fishing the tide up, 2nd is a long walk up towards exmouth, theres a waterfall down the cliff, off there there is mussell beds, furtherup bout 300 yards theres a spot called 2 stones, that can turn up sum good fish, 3rd is down off lime kiln car park, straight off the sewage outlet, bout 180yards out theres a big rock called footcloud,( at a spring low u can swim out and stand on it), but b4 that bout 80-100yards out you got a litte reef thet runs along that part of the beach, known 2 us locals, lol, as the shine. the 4th im afraid is a close knitted secret, sorry.
Paid budleigh another visit last night. Fished near the car park from about 7 to 11 when i ran out of bait. First whiting showed at about 7.15 and the last at 10.45. Must have had at least 30 on squid, mackerel strip, or strips of sprat. best fish just over a pound. Fished two rods, one at about 60, and the other at maybe just 40. A great nights fishing but it wasn't half cold. Rods and tackle covered in ice, bait froze (very pleased i sliced it all up before i went), as did my feet.
Gonna be whiting fried in butter for breakfast, and a packet full of fillets in the freezer, but I'm pleased to say most of them went back.
