menai straits

fishing menai straits next week.. any advice would be welcome as never fished there before

Use very heavy weights as the tidal flow is really fast, lug, mackerel, squid all work well there.

just stocked up on plenty of 6oz weights, think they should do the job.

Bangor pier can produce good results if you find the Menie to stong for you, fish 2/3eds along the pier on the left on the incoming tide and switch to the right hand side of the pier on the outgoing tide. Plenty of shelter along the whole length of the pier if fishing in bad weather.

Yes you do have to pay, I forget how much but it is open all year round as far as I know, Don't fish right off the end as there are a lot of snags.
