Hi all,
Coming up to Wales first week in September to visit family and friends and will try and get some fishing in.
Would like some info' on fishing Dinas beach near Pontrug, is it snaggy? best distance to cast out, high or low tide/ night or day what's best, what baits to use and where's best to get it from, also what species to expect .

Any info' greatly appreciated,

Busadon. :) :)

Hi there
There's a cracking tackle shop at the top of Pool St, Caernarfon (no I'm not connected to it!!), the guys there will be able to advise & sell you quality bait. Dinas is clean and not very deep, try a night session with peeler and you might run into thornbacks it used to be good for them. Hit one of those about an hour after high water, it'll try kiting all the way to Bardsey - the tide run can be fierce. Also the bass should still be around in sept. Long time ago I had a turbot there on chunks of king rag!
Cheers and good luck

Cheers for the reply 'Blanky',

I'll call in the tackle shop you mention for info' and bait , i expect you'd have to pre-order peeler beforehand like most places
wouldn't you?
When you were last in the shop what live bait did they have in stock?
Be nice to contact one of those thornies or late lunker bass wouldn't it, you never know!

Many thanks again,

Busadon >:D< >:D<

hi m8 it's a cracking place for bass, when you get to dinas drive down to the airfield and you'll see a gate in front of you, park up behind the big boulders to the left.

from there get onto the beach and walk up to the gully, you'll see a post sticking up from the dunes that marks the middle of the gully, fish it into darkness 1 1/2 up and 2 1/2 down over h/w, weed can be a big problem at other times.

2hook flapper with blow lug or crab 30yds - 40yds, leave all your bright lights at home.
If you're able and up for a hike go on past the gully up to the gap at fort belan ;)
As already said you'll get all fresh bait from shop in poole st, plus crab 50p ea.
