Ron Thompson Beach Shelter
Ron Thompson Beach Shelter
Right before anyone laughs or sniggers I know I'm a div but can anyone help here
In anticipation of a night fish at Orford I've taken delivery of a Ron Thompson Shelter However, I am having problems getting it up so to speak
Does anyone have one of these shelters - I've got the legs apart so its sitting up but does anyone know what the spare metal pole is for (its about a foot and a half - 2 ft long- is bent at about a 30 degree angle in the middle and has two lenghts of cord coming out with hooks on it
I know it should be straightforward but I am a complete div and it didnt come with any instructions - also its come with a bag of pegs but there's a foot gap between the bottom of the legs and the plastice bracket wherer the pegs are to go through- am I being thick? can anyone help please
Cheers
Stuart

Yip i've got that far - and its up although its pulled a bit of the stitching away as it was a bit tight-or was it me being too rough?
- one other daft question- on that piece of tubing that you slot in to make the peak- what the hell are the cords with hooks on for ? I asked the tackle shop where I bough tit and they didnt know!!

The pole has the two cords so that you can use it for your "whipping fetish" when you can get it up..... or alternately, thread them through the D-Hooks then down on to the front legs.stuartdv wrote:Cheers for the reply

:?: Qstn : Do You know what the skirt bit around the bottom is for ???
 Answ : ........to bury in the shingle..... bank up shingle on the skirt to anchor the shelter down.... also try to avoid facing the entrance directly into strong/gusting winds
:!: TIP : ..... a small bucket like a paint kettle/pot is handy for shovelling pebbles onto the skirt....especially is it is windy and speed is required. Then once the shelter is set up fill the bucket with fresh sea water and store you live lug in it ... multifunctional paint pot.
Good Luck and Tight Lines

Funnily enough the wife said exactly the same (about the cords looking a bit kinky that is)-
Thanks for the reply and the supplementary question/answer- I reckoned a speedy erection (stop it!) and shoreing up with shingle would be the essence as a mild gust sent the shelter flying across the garden earlier today so I take your advice about positioning it right. Luckily nobody saw me battling with it (apart from my three year old dtr who found it hilarious)

The flap that this piece stretches out is attached on one side with a strip of velcro - you need to undo this when inserting or removing the short pole. My 9 year old showed me after I spent half an hour going purple faced and shouting obscenities. Pity they couln't run to a page of instructions. Great shelter though.
