When fishing in the winter I usally set 1 rod on a pulley pennel and 1 on a running ledger or a 2 hook flapper, not had much luck on the cod is it worth setting them both up with the pulley method?

The only time i would use big baits on both rods would be if there are plenty of cod around. As these times are rare i would just do what your doing. At least you can have some fun with whiting and pout whilst you wait. And wait. And wait. And wait.......You get the idea

Eastney beach can produce codling from time to time. Normally i wouldnt believe it until my m8 had a 4lber
. Gilkicker might be worth a try on smaller tides. If you can travel further then dungerness would be a good bet
Warning! If going to dungie then take plenty of rigs and weights. My m8 went there and lost 14 rigs but he had 6 cod up to 9lb

I have been told to try Haslar is it very productive in your book?

Haslar is good for the usual suspects. Pout and whiting can be prolific there. Not so much for cod fishing. I would favour Gilkicker for cod
