Do Artificial Baits, like the scented ones from Birkly (Spelling) actualy work.

i think they work in boats dropping them near wrecks moving them around but to cast them from the beach and leave them on the bottom then no i dont think they do work i would always use fresh bait then rubber bait ive used them and done no good

If you are referring to a product called Gulp the do yourself a favour and keep your money in your pocket. Designed to catch fishermen not fish. After saying that most lures will work from a boat as Royboy pointed out. The only exception is posibley feathers, tinsel etc for the mackerel and suchlike.

I have tried a couple that have caught pollack, not because of the scent but I use them for spinning, The 'Gulp' sandeel worked ok. I was given some by a local tackle dealer to try out for him. Imho they are not worth buying. although I did ok with them, I caught more on frozen sandeel which are less than half the price.
