on sifting through my rag worm tonight i came accross what i thought were bits of mutilated worms, but on closer inspection were what apeared to be the carcases of huge fleas, about 4mm long. !! any idea what they were?

some bait suppliers do ragworm in sea peat- much better than vermiculite in my view- sea peat contains all manner of organic material- (some of the peat I used had little cress like plants starting to grow in them it was that fertile) but without a photo it's hard to say really

i took a pic bu it doesnt really show it very well, i'll have a bit play, see if i can enhance it a bit....

all i can describe it as is a stereotypical 'flea' in profile, but much bigger and no big back legs. dark brown in colour.

incidentally these worms are in vermiculite.( i much prefere them in peat too.....)

I think that's probably a sand hopper. You see loads of them on some beaches.
