mackerel strip

HI what size of mackerel strip would you recomend for thornbacks and lsd under normal fishing conditions, i have heard of people using 2 inch thick strips but i thought that might be to big ?

I normally chuck out half a fillet elastic on in a sausage shape.

Cheers for that DAZ i saw a couple of lads on you tube setting up there baits

Take a squid and using the flesh bind it on tight to the hook then wrap half a mackeral fillet around that. Good thorny bait ;)
