Hi Guys,
This is my first post, I have been fishing for nearly 50 years on and off, and to be honest always my own way ie. Partanosta 30 lbs line . I've decided to get back into it with my wife and have done loads of research so I can fish in a more recognised way, so just bought a surfblaster 2 and reaper2 rod :))
So first question please......I have never used a shock leader which I will try now, I have just filled the reel with 18 lb mono, and bought 60 lb grease weasle shock, BUT as I thought about it, why can't I use a 60lb braid shock leader as this would be thinner a flow of the feel easier, I 've not seen this mentioned anywhere yet does any do it this way around please?

Some people are using Braid on Braid but even when I use Braid for the main line I use Mono for the shock leader. My thinking is that the Mono is better for abrasion resistance on rock marks and rough ground. Also the Mono will even out any roughness at the beginning of the cast.
