We used to use greased weasel shock leader and don't remember having any problems with line fraying. Do you use a fixed spool reel because if so maybe there is some damage to the lip of the reel. Recently I have found my main line slightly frayed after casting practice and found some damage to the reel lip

I do use F/S but both reels are fine and so is the main line (black ice). Cant understand thats it's never happend before and I'am fishing the same venues so its not rougher ground.

Used it for years, never had a problem, as the man said have you been drawing it over rocks or rusty iron in the sea.

Hey snigs brilliant! Should have thought of that myself, could well be the source of the problem.

If the guy in the shop had changed it, thats a result, and seems a decent person to do buisness with. :)
