Need advice on what size of fixed spinning reel to buy

Hi,

I am about to buy a Ron thompson tyran nano 10ft 20 - 60 rod for lure fishing from piers and rocks but I am unsure whether to go for a 40/4000 size or a 50/5000 size spinning reel. I am a newbie so once i get into the swing of things i will prob do a bit more than pier and rocks.

I have been advised i should use 15lb line so not sure how big to go with the reel, especially as some seem to have quite a small capacity compared to others.

If i go with 15lb line, how much line should i be looking to get on the reel? If i know that i can make a better decision.

i have seen some good reels that rrp at about 40 or 50 but can be had for under 30 so will nab one of those. Some people think 15lb line is overkill and i should go for 12 so will prob do that. What do you think?

There is not a huge difference between 15 & 12 lb line to be honest and if you are fishing where the line may get some abrasion then I would stick with the 15lb. On the other hand, you could do what my bro does and load up with 25lb braid which is thinner than either, the good stuff is a tad expensive though.
