Getting fish from sea to land, what reel?
I was fishing the other day and I caught some makerell. No problem untill I was trying to take the fish out of the water.
I had to reel the fish up about 20 to 30 feet from the water to the rock I was standing on.
I was useing a flladen bass 10Ft 30 to 80 grams spin rod, no problem there, but the reel a mitchell advocet gold 4000 felt like that this sort of work was a bit too much for it.
What reel would be a better choice for the lifting fish from sea to land.
I even thought about about cutting the rig down to 2 or even 1 hook to help.
I have a 12 foot carp rod I am going to use now for makerells, but I still need a reel, Help and advice would be very welcome.

A larger fixed spool would go some way to alieviate the problem although as Ilurvmatthayes said a 7000 or okuma 30 should do the trick especially if you catch a larger fish than you are targeting ie mackerel.
I myself use the Abu 7,500 as an allrounder but not for the reasons stipulated by others, the reason I use this reel is that I can get my thumb around the spool for casting, if you get a snap off normally you have enough line left on the spool to carry on fishing, just tie on another shockleader instead as with the smaller reels you would have to replace the whole line to continue fishing.
This reel can be used for general boat fishing, beach casting and pier work so perhaps this would be a better alternative.
