is it a multi or fixed spool rod or is it set up for both.

mine is rung for both and i use a green abu 6500 or a surfmaster 60 with 15lb mono to 50lb shockleader. the ubu feels much better on it as its way lighter. i never knew what people were on about when they said a rod/reel combo were well balanced, but i see what they mean when i swap reels on the bass rod.

i use both reels on other rods so i have the heavier line on, but if i was to have a reel specificly for the bass rod id probably use 8-10lb line with a 40lb shockleader.

use as small a reel as you can get away with is probably what im trying to say :)

if its costing you nothing, what have you got to loose by trying it :D :D . just wish my friends gave me free reels more often. put some very light line on it, 8-10lb or 15-20lb braid, 30lb shock, 2 hook flapper, 2/3oz lead flick it into the surf and go get yourself a bass. nothing catching like em on light set ups. :D
