ABU 484
ABU 484Yep a beachcaster from the 60's, one of my first rods. Weighs a ton compared to rods of today. Managed to get my hands on one after 2 that were stolen some years ago from my garage. It has been slightly modded by having Fugie rings fitted which in itself is a good thing. It is a 2 piece rod with a metal screw fitting that joins both sections, with of course the old cork handle. Brings back memories of my youth my first setup was an ABU 484 with an ABU 7000 reel. At that time it was the bees knees. a rod to be treasured.

I still have my ABU 484 Atlantic Zoom rod that I bought new from 'Charlton & Bagnall' in Morecambe, Lancashire, in the mid 1970s. It is in almost perfect condition having been very little used, is 100% original and was always well looked after. It even has the rubber bung that plugs the female spigot when not in use. The only minus point is that I can no longer get it into its bag as it appears to have shrunk over the decades.
Re: ABU 484what colour is the blank on your 484 Keith?
Here is my 484, bought from Charlton & Brignall in Morecambe around the mid 1970s. It is in near mint condition. Excuse the poor images
