joining new rods

ok just bought two new rods ( 2 peice ) now when joining them up, the last cm is so tight that they will not join flush together, any advice would be great :((

dont push it too tight, the reason for the extra length in the joint is for wear and tear of the spigot, they normally have 10-15mm extra.

so, are you saying that it's ok to have that 10-15mm gap then and they do not have to be flush together :)

Redmouse is right, they are not supposed to fit together "flush", the gap allows for wear over the years which will certainly occur.

As Eccles rightly says the wear which occurs over a period of time is taken up by the taper on the spigot joint which is why they go tight and leave a "bit sticking out" as it were-this amount will get smaller over time,nothing to worry about though!
