Add a few more quid and your the selection you can look at improves dramatically. Some thing like a greys grxs might be worth a look at. Also the abu hellbenders are nice rods

supposedly theres a new range of Ian Golds rods comming out in the next few weeks, meant to be in competition with Zziplex in terms of the quality but meant to be seriously cheaper.
i read a report from a guy who got some to test out and he said for the prices being quoted, you wont get better rods.
might be worth having a look at them.

You also mentioned youd had a look at the Esprit rods, i cant comment on the Slt range, but i do have a 13ft Esprit, and can say its a great rod.
Easy to Casts a long way without destroying a soft bait ie crab/fish baits
Sits in a tide well, without the lead being pulled out or the tip pulling right over and ruining the bite detection
Shows bites very well
Very light and doesnt make your arms ache holdiing it
Also it doesnt break the bank!!
