Bass Fishing - Seaham area ?

Post by Thom » Tue Dec 21, 2004 5:53 pm

Has anybody that fishes the seaham area ever caught a bass of any size?
I've heard reports but have never actually seen one on the local beaches.

7lb doggie

Post by medlar » Sat Jan 08, 2005 11:02 pm

Hi Mr Rix,
No not 7lb,it was 2lb i did`nt have a camera with me but the guy who helped me pull the doggie up the pier wall by my shock leader took a photo with his camera phone.i have since found out that the guy either works in a tackle shop in sunderland or his mate owns the tackle shop and they supposedly have the picture displayed in the shop window.still havent heard for sure if it was a beach record or not but either way i really dont have any photographic proof of my own

Well if this guy has it displayed in the shop window they must know whats a Dogfish as opposed to a Smoothhound? would be interesting to see the pic anyway

doggie

Post by medlar » Mon Feb 07, 2005 7:04 pm

Sorry i havent been on line for a while, problems with internet,
THORN, It was definately a spotted doggie, not a smoothy or a bull huss.
It would be nice to have the british record, but i did not get a photo although i have been told a lad took one with his camera phone and displayed it in a tackle shop, and i have heard from a few who fish in roker that they have seen the photo.Incidentelly the shore record is 4lb 3oz and the boat record is 6lb.
