Mullet at Shingle Street

Post by Romster » Fri Jun 21, 2013 11:04 am

A friend called to say he had seen Bass splashing about in the shallows at the entrance to the river Ore at Shingle street. I,m not the sort who needs telling twice and was there with him in 2 hours of the sighting rod and bait in hand. After 20 minutes i found what i,m going to buy him for Christmas a book on fish recognition. The Mullet he had spotted where prolific some must have weighed up to 4/5 pounds with many smaller ones around the 1 lb marker. We sat there watching them for about an hour with no chance of catching one as we only had left over rag as bait. If your into Mullet fishing the location was at the river entrance. Park at the pumping station and walk the foot path opposite . When you reach the beach turn left and walk 200 yds to the mud banks fish were there 2 hrs before low water. Good sport if you can hit one.
