Shingle Street

Post by Big_Fluffy_One »

After two of the most disasterous years you could imagine...

Four weeks on the Norfolk coast...blank
Trip out from Hunstanton....ONE Mackerel
Trip out from Lowestoft.....blank
Plus some odd days..blank

Now that's one bloody expensive fish :((

This year I'm spending an entire week at Shingle Street....If I don't catch something worthwhile I might just drown myself.

Can someone put me onto a bait shop in the area please?

Ta muchness.

Nope...got to be Shingle Street...got a cottage on the beach for a week..costing a fortune and the wife would go mental if I wandered off and left her there in the middle of nowhere.

ah under the thumb then eh, lol. right if you walk north up the beach past the last cottage you will find the river mouth, tide rips through there very fast but some very nice bass can be had if you catch it right, using whole squid or rag very close in, max bout 20 foot, cheers matt

I fished East Lane last Wednesday night with my Father, was a good session, we had 4 Bass, 1 Codling, 1 Eel and several Whiting.

All fish went back but a good nights sport and some thumping bites.

This is on the same stretch as Shingle Street just by the reinforcements.

For Bait there is Stuarts Guns and Tackle based in Woodbridge you can try only 20 mins away and they provide good bait.

I'd recommend weight lifts there as its prone to a few small snags but mainly the clay, missed a few decent bites due to being stuck in them, but lost no tackle.

Good luck.

Matt

Mmmm...four sessions on Shingle Street and today at Aldeburgh and not a nibble :(( One more tomorrow and then it'll be up the coast into Norfolk for the next week.

It really is enough to make me weep.

Never mind...I'm having a nice holiday :)
