Fifeness Firth of Forth

Anyone got any tips on how too reduce tackle losses as this is really rough ground fishing with hard flow of the tide and creel pots everywhere, at times the wind and tide conditions make 8 ozs of lead necessary losing a lot of gear just now.
Fishing as standard with storm shrimp rig and 4/8 ozs of lead bottom 2 shrimps baited with mackeral and a 12 lb weak link or rotten boom between rig and lead, any suggestions?
Fishing on drift from Honda 4 metre inflatable in 12 to 25 metres of water.

hows it goin. im from n.ireland but the missus is from fife. im an engineer and i cut all the scrap steel round bar up and use them as make shift leads. if you cant get any of that you could ask your nearest scrap yard to keep scrap lead for you. buy a mould and make your own leads. tackle shop leads cost a bomb so i can understand your frustrations when you are losing an 8oz lead everytime to a rotten bottom. bet the fishing is brilliant at that mark tho. its always the way. sods law!
