telescopic rods

i've been looking at a 14ft telescopic rod for when i go on holiday, i've never used them before are they any good

telescopic rods are ok if you dont do alot of fishing. if you plan to do alot of fishing then DO NOT get a telescopic rod. sure the fold down and you can set your rod up before you even leave the house but most people will tell you they hate them I DO !!!!!!!!

I had one once - fell to bits after a few outings so I would be wary about getting another. I understand that there have been some improvements in recent years though; I suspect that if I was going to try for another I would want a cast iron warranty and I wolud spend enough money to pretty well ensure that the rod was quality.

exactly what i said in another post in the general section ,i hate tele's with a passion ,ive had 3 over the years for going on holiday with and all 3 have snapped in various places , as sugested in the other post , take alook at some travel rods ( small sections that are stored in a rigid tube )

i had a telescopic rod only used it a couple of times before sand got trapped in it and i couldn't open or close it, i personally wouldn't have another, travel rods is the way to go. AD

Don't think I would trust one of those Sue, sounds far too cheap to be any good.

Reckon you got a good rod there rabbi, I have a couple from the same range but not the travel although I was very tempted - where did you get yours?

The Shakespear is in 6 sections and comes in a hard case, If you take the handle of a abu600 series it will fit in the case with the rod, ok for going abroad ect.
