Hythe beach Southampton

Post by Phillb »

Hi guys
I'm off to Hythe beach on Saturday with a few friends. I've never fished here before and I was hoping for some advise on what was likely to be around and what bait to use.

Thanks
Phil

I didn't get your pm mate. Tried to send you one this morning, not sure it's working ok.

What size hooks were you using?

I was going to suggest using smaller hooks but you're not using big hooks. make sure they're razor sharp- might improve your hook ups- I've never been convinced on pulley pennel rigs for the fish you were targetting (if you were using a pulley pennel) - I would only use them on rough ground.

Try a flapper with short snoods- maybe only 6-7" snoods. On your clipped rigs make sure you're using bait stops on the snood to stop the bait shooting up the snood during the cast.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a go next time I'm out.

Cheers
