spinning

Post by wannacatch1 » Sat May 14, 2011 3:02 pm

tried Hayling at the ferry boat end to get some mackeral for bait this weekend.whitbait on the shore line washed up at feet and could see the odd mackie folowing them in.so feathered up but no takes, decided to put on a spinner light was fading but this seemed to be more productive with 13 mackeral and 2 bass to about 1lb,both bass returned and also a good chunk of bait for next few trips happy days. :D :D ;) ;) :D :D

Did you make the mistake of casting into the bait fish shoal?

It is best to cast to the edge of the shoal as there is more chance of mackerel attacking the stragglers at the edges after they smack into them and stun them.

If you cast to the middle of the baitfish shoal then everything is lost amongst the tiddlers.

Try a set of feathers with a dexter wedge on the bottom. Can be very productive when the bass are underneather the mackeral ;)
