risking 5 metre waves for a dogfish or two ?

sorry, can't say how well you did.... it is brave, mad or foolhardy to be on Chesil at times like that, people die there. I hope others who don't know Chesil are not encouraged to try fishing there in strong south or sou-westerlies by this report.

I'm thinking you didn't meet many locals on the beach ?

The post stated that Chesil was fished 'last night' and was posted Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:10 am I had assumed that the poster was talking about Sunday... that being the day before Monday, thus qualifying for the title of last night ). The wave buoy off Chesil was recording waves over 4m high on Sunday afternoon, ( you can visit the link, set to the date in question and check the record ), if I had intended to fish Chesil I would have cancelled....but then I know how evil Chesil can be. It's not the wind speed at the time but how the wind out to sea has picked up the waves and caused a huge swell.

A confusion over the days of the week in the post... but the warning about the dangers of Chesil isn't confused.... treat the place with respect.

ps. what do the locals think ? well check wave heights for 8th Jan, and then the report for the match of that date on
http://www.west-bay-sea-angling-club.co.uk/results.htm
only one of the anglers, well experienced with fishing their local patch, tried fishing with 1.8m waves ....and packed up for safety as the height increased towards 2m.

There were some "mad" waves around over the weekend ........... I'm sure Chesil was no different than anywhere else !
