mullet / bass yippie

Post by tomtom6 »

had a little bash this morn on the up tide (4am) took dog for a stroll down the causeway,
fished a course rig 5lb line 2 swan float bread as bait and it was madness 1st cast was snapped up by what i think was 10lb ish sea trout but was my own fault never had landing net set up.
and trying to set up net and land fish with mad dog is not a good idea. X(

however i was to catch 6 bass up to around 2 and a half pound (all put back) and a 5lb pike ???????

not bad for half a loaf of stale kingsmill on a mullet quest at silly oclock on a sat morn with a looney springer spaniel.

well done on the catch, but where is the causeway? I myself was up early only to find myself let down by my mate, so ended up by cobden bridge, with a loony jack russel, managed to catch diddly! peaceful though

god knows mate just luck although when the tide is out i have seen the odd carp.
may be they travel back upstream when salt water returns ????

all fish were caught on retrive and to be honest by accident i was after mullet.

the causeway is next to the road brige at the test estuary on way to totton

Not the best place to go fishing though.
I have fished there every day for the last 6 weeks total catch is 2 bass and 3 mullet
Like tomtom6 I only go there to fish for mullet (Too many kids swimming kinda ruins the moment though)
