Calshot 16/5/09 fishing report

Post by raffai84 »

Fished calshot yesterday. far to windy for the beech so decided to fish the back water area. weed was not really a problem. still a bit windy but was ok. fished 1:15 pm till about 5:30 pm. several little bass between 5 of us and a snotty little eel.
But the catch of the day was a mate whos rod was only in the water about 2-3 mins on his first cast and landed a nice bass weighing approx 3lbs. Git! :-O using a one hook running ledger on rag. squid and mackerel were also used but not even a nibble.

JUST A LITTLE TIP WHEN HOLDING A BASS PUT YOUR THUMB IN ITS MOUTH AND FINGER UNDER ITS CHIN AS IT SUBDUES THE FISH AND SAVES A LOT OF SPINE CUTS AND SCALE CUTS, IT ALSO LEAVES ONE HAND FREE TO UNHOOK THE FISH THE COD

I'm in the background of the photo just turned up as my mate in the photo (who has only been fishing a couple of times) reeled this in on his second cast!!!! Was not best pleased but paid off as I ended up taking it home! Only caught a couple of baby bass. Tight lines..... FISH PIECE!
