ive just got myself a small 15hp outboard for a small fishing boat.
ive been told the fuel mix is 50-1. im in the prosess of getting a measuring jug but what type of fuel and oil do i need to use to make a 2STROKE mix. prob a daft question but im still learning. please advise

hi kev i use MP3 made by Rockoil it is a two stroke oil made for outboards, 50-1 is 200ml of oil to 5 litres of fuel, you can get the oil from most chandlers hope this helps pete
hmmm 50 to 1 is 5o parts petrol to 1 part oil, so thats 2ml oil to 100ml petrol, so 1ltr =1000ml =20ml oil per 1 ltr, so 5x20ml is 100ml of oil per 5ltr for 50 to 1

Unless your outboard pre-dates the early 70's it was designed to run on unleaded fuel. There is no catalytic converter on your outboard so any petrol could be used. Unleaded is cheapest.
The oil required should be TCW-3 standard. Just about any marine 2 stroke is labeled as this standard.
As Chris has described, 1 litre = 1000ml so 5 litre is 5000ml. 5000 divide by 50 = 100ml. So 100ml to every 5l of unleaded petrol.
