ive just got myself a small 15hp outboard for a small fishing boat.
ive been told the fuel mix is 50-1. im in the prosess of getting a measuring jug but what type of fuel and oil do i need to use to make a 2STROKE mix. prob a daft question but im still learning. please advise

Unless your outboard pre-dates the early 70's it was designed to run on unleaded fuel. There is no catalytic converter on your outboard so any petrol could be used. Unleaded is cheapest.
The oil required should be TCW-3 standard. Just about any marine 2 stroke is labeled as this standard.
As Chris has described, 1 litre = 1000ml so 5 litre is 5000ml. 5000 divide by 50 = 100ml. So 100ml to every 5l of unleaded petrol.
