It has been brought to my notice that at least 2 tackle shops have closed down in the last 6 months and I have been informed by my local tackle shop it has been mainly due to 2 things ie: bad weather and on line suppliers. Anyone else know of tackle shop closures recently? Bait is also in short supply due to the lugworm beds being ripped up by the storms.
Cheers

Yes, two have closed down in this part of the world also. Very sad but as one of them said to me "we can't compete with the internet". Actually I think they can to some extent if they get a website themselves.

i agree. I work in retail it is tough competing against the internet, but if you offer a friendlier service and a good selection of goods people will pay a bit more for the service. most of the mail order companies you see advertiserd in sea angler have retail stores you can visit and mail order sites.

thanks
