Avance Warning, snag removal at Dungeness Tues 15th May

Snag removal at dungeness....... Tuesday 15th May

Please be aware that a trawler will be towing a set of grapnels at Dungeness within 100y of the shingle next Tuesday afternoon. This will be taking place between the boats and the fog horn (basically 800y either side of the point). The objective is to break up the many hundreds of lost shock leaders (tackle snags) that are blighting this area.

This has been organised by Dungeness Angling Association. The dredging should last 2 hours and start circa 2 hours before high water on Tuesday afternoon.

This event is weather dependent.

DAA would greatly appreciate it if you could duplicate this thread on any other forums and social media you frequent to spread the word as widely as possible.

It will still be possible to fish this area, you will however need to reel in every 20 minutes or so for the 2 hour period.

DAA appreciate the cooperation of any anglers inconvenienced on the day. If the dredging is successful, another dredge is planned for early autumn to clear the mackerel feathers in preperation for the cod season.
