if your having problems with worm's popping as your taking them over the hook eye then you may find it would of been your tag end on the knot not cut short enough to the eye,, best thing to do would be to use a grinner knot which then has the tag end poking out the top of the knot so the worms should just slide over it, then you could make your own hook traces to your desire..

hope this helps in some way

na if you use them wipped on hook you will never tie your own again trust me got nowt to do with the tags being to long iv been carp fish for some of the most hook shy fish around and i can tie hooks with the smallest mico knots you will see, its just the wipped hook make everthing so simple

when you commented on worms popping when putting them over your hook then the suggestion would be tag ends, as for whipping them on then the only hook i whip on is the top pennel hook to make it fixed with some shrink tubing and i now use some tubing between the top and bottom hook to stop the crabs and wighting biting your line, just in case you get a biggin on it wont be due to hook length that you fail to land it,,

Sounds to me like your talking about hooks with a spade end rather than a eye. Not my cup of tea to be honest. Your not carp fishing now
