Thanks squirrel, I think at the moment I'll leave the rod in the loft for a while.
I've still got others I can use and can get a fairly good distance with my Ron Thompson and Fladen rods.

Kopitecol - It was the top section I broke so it sounds as though we both have the same spare parts !.

I was talking to my local fish store about what had happened (the broken rings) and they didn't sound to surprised so maybe it's a common problem with them ???

Totally f***ed off now. Spent over an hour carefully removing the rings, got to the last one and managed to snap the rod in half, still not sure how I managed to do it.

Looks as though my days fishing with the Longbeam are well and truely over.

The last time I fished Lowestoft harbour there were loads of eels in there, to the point of them being worse than Pouting !

I'm with you on that phatboy, no point in killing a fish just for the sake of it and then to leave it to bet frost burn in your freezer. I've seen people on my local beach chuck anything they pull out on the beach without even killing it and then watch it flap around cooking in the sun, they then ju...

I normally fish the east cost (Lowestoft mainly) and I've not had seen many sizeable fish this year (although there are a few good sized Mullet in the harbour). I think that Total Sea Fishing magazine are about to do a feature here and I'm sure that Barney will prove me wrong, failing that Andy1 wil...

Andy, I'm on nights next week so will be available sometime after the 4th September if you fancy a trip out again.
Just need to look at tide times closer to a date.

I wasn't expecting my post to turn out like this ! Thanks for the help Bucko, I've gone for a 5 minute resin as I'd hate to think what would happen if I spent 3 - 4 hours turning the rod waiting for it to dry while I worked my way through a bottle of wine or two !. With regards to the guides, I ende...

Thanks, looks as though I'll give it a go.

Probably a stupid question, but how do I work out the guide sizes ?. Is it based on the diameter of the guide or how high it sits off the bass of the rod ?
