i deffinatly think that the way forward is days at sea rather than monthly qouta, i enjoy my job and wouldnt dream of changing it, but i HATE wasting fish, dumping is something i will NEVER do, in june/july we hit a patch of coddies, yer thats right cod, i didnt have qouta and i couldnt dump them so...

I think myself personally that the problem arises from other countries that fish under a british licence. hi twinkle,
yer i do use my trawling marks, put my mate on a good day catching three doubles and a twenty in one session,
shhhhhhh i dnt wanna be disqualified for towing a net as we steam to the fishing grounds lol
what are your views on trawling and possible climate change?

hello there mate, southend pier is a good spot for fishing, downside is its snaggy off the end, if it was me id go to the east point and fish the mussel beds which is about a 60yrd cast, do well for codling and whiting but rarley anything over 3lb, if ur out of romford then why not try gravesend sea...

we dont use sources like forums for our fishing grounds, we try and work with fellow trawlers to gain a big picture and work out our plans from there, most of the time we are working on info from our last season and so on,

hi chris,
we was gona go around 3 and fish for a good 5 hours, funny realli coz last week we went there and my mate seatackler caught a tiny bass and i caught a small flounder,
if we went to tilbury where could we fish and how long do we get to fish?
what tactics wld u recommend?

hi basstardo, good question, the biggest fish we have caught is a 70lb stingray, we had 2 mre the same tow at 45lb and 20lb, they wre caught near southend pier, biggest bass has to be about 16lb sole 4lb whiting 3lb cod 30lb+ gurnards to over 3lb a 7lb lobster plaice 6lb thornback to nearly 20lb we ...
