been looking at kite fishing in new zealand on you tube, it seems to be there way of doing it comercially, i noticed that they pulled it through the kite by hand and had alot of traces on there ie miles worth, looks interesting

hello mate,

ill will be there from 3pm, im gona try for a codling so taking two rods one with 4/0 pennel whole squid and the other 3 hook flapper for the whiting, try and get the whiting stirred up then hopefully it will make the codling interested and bobs your uncle,

and another thing is the kite would be quite high, the further out to sea you want to fish the higher the kite and the more slack line released should you hook a fish, maybe the clip should be near the water edge minimising the risk of missed takes :-/

it could be deadly for trotting baits dwn the crouch for big bass, there wouldnt be much line resistance i wouldnt of thought, so when u have a fish on does it unclip from the kite? if so how much slack is there before the line is taught again? wt if the fish spits the hook when the line goes slack?...

well ive never heard of that before, i do hope it works for ya, let us know wen and wre and ill come along for the crack :D i can see the headlines now "ufo spotted beaming fish out of the sea at night" how will u present the bait with a float or weight or simply freelining from the kite? cheers sha...

alright codcrazy,i was one the the group who you was talking to on there just to let you know we had 15 whiting between us ,i only had 2 ,but i also had a nice cod on, guessing around 5lb mark but lost it trying to get it onto the jetty,no drop net ,not as lucky as the essex dangler pulling up his ...

went up the oj for a walk this morning to get my bearings ready for my first trip up there next week, the walk is neverending but well worth it, there was one bloke on the western side of the very end, he had a 3lb codling and a few pins, another group of anglers had been there 5 mins before i arriv...
