does anyone regularly fish south shields beach. i've been fishing 2 or 3 hrs up to high water either in front of the sandancer pub, or near trow rocks. its been a bit hit and miss. if i have a good session, its very good. but a poor session is usually a complete blank... no middle ground. i have bee...

one thing to be aware of on the north side if south shields pier...ie in the harbour, as you get towards the end, probably from about the post onwards, is that as you can very easily get caught up on the lobster pots that are roped together not too far out.

i know this is a bit late however i was out newyears day. i started on south shields beach for the incomming tide. after about 2 hrs i'd had enough, the sea was far too rough so shifted along to the pier. the tides are simply taken from 1 datum point. possibly dover. then all ports arond the country are that time plus or minus 'x' hrs.
the height depends entirely on the pull of the moon, which differs dependent on where you are but again is in relation to one datum :)
