i've been out in south shields the past couple of weeks, on the beach and pier and caught very little, little stuff.
there's been reports of a few decent catches, tough not in great numbers.

there has been a verified catch of a 9lb cod around mill dam that was released, but thats it!

the way i see it is that trawling is going to continue regardless and i dont see that in itself as a problem. the way the industry works and is regulated is the problem. at the end of the day, less trips out to trawl with all fish landed plus a broader use of more species. equals less damage, less w...

i would say that the issue is not so much to do with changing our eating habbits to other fish, though it would not be a bad idea to broaden our horizons. More to do with bing more efficient and therefoe by defaualt more economic with what is caught and used. I fish for both the sport and the table,...

Totally agree it's gutting and frustrating at the same time We're regulated on size but they can catch, kill and throw Back dead anything what is caught in the nets. We're scratching our head wondering where the fish are and they're thowing it back dead! It's so soul distroying. thats not strictly ...

me and a mate are looking at sorting our first boart trip out of the tyne, wear or maybe blyth.
as we are new to this side of angling, we havent got a clue what to take.
i presume a decent skipper will show us what to do and how to do it?
any advice or recomendations appreciated.

cheers

i think its disgusting.... if the quotas were on a time basis, ie you can go out for 'x' days per year and land everything you catch, then there would be no need to waste all that decent fish. it would make the fishing far more sustainable.. i've joined his cause ad siged the petition. if anyone is ...
