My theory was gona be that maybe the leader was too short and therefor still unde strain as the joining knot let the spool....clearly that idea is wrong..... can a leader be too long? anyone? i was using a huge leader when fishing of the rocks last weekend, but that just seeed to impact on my distan...

to be honest flattie are a doddle to prep... i'm still having probs filleting round fish.... but i keep trying, if i get it wrong or do a bad job, i just cook the whole lot (gutted) and eat it off the bone. doesnt look fantastically presented, but still tastes as good

i had a vey similar issue, and went for an okuma distance surf rather than the penn, (for a penn rod incidentally). i cant fault it afte many hrs of abuse its had no problems at all, and it looks good too

nah, pretty sure its a rockling. very strong little bugger too tried to wrap itself round my arm as i was unhooking it.

it was about 10" at a guesse, didnt measure it, but it was well on size... and dark red...

untill today, i've nly ever caugt small rockling. Today I got a cracking one, well past min size, and very strong, trying to wrap itself round my arm. as i've neve caught one of tis size before and wasnt to sure about edibility. it went back in. no point taking it home to show off and then it going ...
