Hythe Report Saturday 15th Oct

Fished Hythe on the evening of Sat 15th from about 6.30pm through to 11pm. LW was around 9.30 ish (I think). We decided to fish one rod each rather than the usual 2 with lug and rag as bait. From start to finish it was just Whiting. With the exception of my dad who caught a dab as well. After 50 odd...

Fantastic!!!

Nothing like a good session to keep the young interested - they get bored very easily - I know mine do.

Hythe Report: Saturday 24th Sept 1830 - 2330

Fished Hythe (Princes PArade) from 1830 through to 2330 hrs with High Tide at around 2130. Was fishing with Dabhand who has fished Hythe before, whilst it was a first for me. Water was very clear and we both were worried that it had the potential to be a quiet night. Whilst it was still light, not a...

Well Done Gary - Sounds like a cracking session.
Hope to be able get out for a night session in the next week or two.
Good to see Walmer producing for you following the jinx of me when we fished it a few weeks ago.
See you on the beech again soon.

I have used a cannon with a fixed spool for a year or so with mixed results. At first I loved it and it definitely saves the flesh on your finger but I struggle with my casting at the best of times so often ignore the cannon which is securely in place with a couple of neat wraps of insulation tape -...

Walmer Beach - Thursday 1st September Report

Met up with Dabhand today to fish Walmer beach. Arrived about 12 noon, HT at 2pm and a fairly strong easterly wind. Bit of weed about but not too bad. We fished through until about 5.30pm with not a single bite between us. Disappointing session but was good to meet Dabhand and I am sure we will meet...

Fished East Cowes twice and somewhere else I cannot remember the name off. To be honest - I just followed my Dad who lives on the Island. Sadly ill health prevents him getting to any spots which involve steep banks or walking - hence East Cowes. We thought about fishing Castle point but he said the ...

Back from fishing Isle of Wight

Just back from 3 nights of fishing the Isle of Wight. Pretty poor fishing with only one smooth hound on the first night, another on the second and blanked on the last night. Crabs were a real pain in the back side - stripping bait at an alarming rate. Took the edge off the fun to be honest. Hope to ...

Hi Gary,
Looking good for the winter whiting. Know what you mean about crabs - was fishing the Isle of Wight last 4 days and the crabs were stripping the bait as soon as the line hit the water - went through so much bait it was frightening.
See you down Deal / Walmer soon.
Colin.

Report: Shellness beach, Isle of Sheppey Sunday 21st Aug

Fished Shellness beach on the Isle of Sheppey from 2.30am through to 6.30am. Mild night, little breeze and calm water. High tide at 5.30am. Was fishing 2 rods. 1 2up flapper (size 1/0) baited with Lug, the other I was trying out a "plaice" type rig with loads of bling and a size 1 hook and lug. Fran...
