Hi,
I have just received my box of goodies from Veals.
1x Thumb button and 1x Cannon. I need to put a shock leader on my reel and then plan to fish Barton Point on Saturday daytime noon to 6pm ish.
Thanks for all the feedback - I'll let you know how I get on.

Has anyone used a Breakaway Cannon or Breakaway Thumb Button

Hi, I use a fixed spool as I have never got the hang of a multiplier (although if someone could give me some tips - as I've only tried through trial and error). I'm thinking of trying to use a Breakaway Cannon or Breakaway Thumb button. Has anyone experience of using these? Are they any good? Just h...

Great Fish and sounds like a great day. More than makes up for the footy result - did the radio go in the drink?

Is it your boat or a hire?

Think you made the right choice given the result. Think how you would of felt if you had decided to go to the match and given up the boat trip. Still life could be worse... You could be a Crystal Palace supporter - like me!!! (Medication helps). I'll be at Bartons Point next Saturday to fish the tid...

My Ron Thompson arrived yesterday - the box it was in looked more like the wife had ordered some kind of giant golf club!!! Unpacked, its a bit longer than I expected. I've badgered the wife and she has let me have it now rather than for Christmas - that was easier than I thought. Going to assemble ...

Yeeee Haaaaa.... My wife has just bought me a Ron Thompson Shelter from Veals who have limited stock in Blue and Black only. On the downside, she won't let me have it until Christmas.... Bummer!!! I wonder if I can work on her and get it sooner and then convince her to get me something else for Chri...

I agree it makes sense to just cut the line and release it - at least it may have a small chance of surviving. Better that than have its guts pulled through its throat and no chance of survival. Thanks for the tip. Plan to fish next weekend daytime either at Barton Point or take the son to Deal Pier...

Had a nice nights fishing. Arrived a little late and my first cast was at about 11.30pm. Nothing on the incoming tide but as the tide turned at 1am, started to get bites. Landed 4 Whiting between 1am and 2am, 2 between 2am and three and a couple more between 3am and 3.30am when I packed up. Eight in...

Fishing Barton Point tonight 10.30pm ish to Whenever

Just about to make up a few traces for tonight. I will be fishing Barton Point from around 10.30pm (HT is 1am). Will be using Lug tipped with Squid and maybe some plain unwashed squid. Anyone else planning to fish there tonight? If so, come say hi - I'm easily recognisable - Will be on my own, short...

Fished Barton Point from 4.30pm until 8pm (High tide 6.15pm). Not much until the tide turned and sun had gone down. Had a few strong bites and landed 2x Whiting (Returned). Bait was lug tipped with Squid. Wind got up and son has school tomorrow so we had to call it a night, just as it was looking li...

Well tomorrow will be the moment of truth... Fishing Barton Point in the afternoon with my son. We have fresh lug and some squid but will take the frozen lug just to see what its like. I fully expect it to be useless. Will post an update of the trip and the state of the bait sometime tomorrow.

Thank you for the replies. I suspected the common lug may end up as pulp so I'll take it along with no expectations. I must admit reading the posts on here, squid seems a popular bait to use at the moment. Is Island Bait the one which shares it shop with a Satallite Company? I've been pleased with t...

Frozen Lugworm

Okay - this is my first post, so forgive me if I post something already discussed or its in the wrong place. After a 20 year absence from sea fishing, and after being hounded by my teenage son, I have started fishing again and found that I love it once more. I was a teenager when I stopped. I don't ...
