I think the cold bringing the cod in is more of a saying than a reason for why they actually come inshore. :)

Fished hessel foreshore today just over high tide near the humber bridge, blanked to cut along story short, not a bite and there was a lot of weed and rubbish in the river making it difficult to hold bottom at times. Theres been alot of fresh water coming down the river these last few weeks so has pushed the cod out abit, though hopefully this cold spell should bring them back in.

Yeh I fished withernsea last year, fished very well through out Januarys late cod run, and i no were u mean royboy that gully produced some good fish last year. I rembember i fella who had 2 cod around the 5lb mark just while i was fishing from that spot.

Easington/King George dock report

Arrived at Easington at half 9, 2 hours before hide tide. Weather was bright but fairly breezy and there was alot of weed on the beach (not a good sign). Set up and stayed about an hour until the weed became impossible to fish and so we took the decision to go back to Hull and fish King George dock ...

thanx for the info royboy, we have decided to fish easington 2morrow as the weather forcast is better than expected so it will be the first cod session of the season at a new venue for us.

Spurn point

Decided to have a bash at spurn point this saturday depending on the weather and might even have a go at digging some lug :-/ . Just hoping this will be the year of my first cod or at least a decent whiting after just flatty bashing last year, will post report if weather is ok.

I have recently heard about the cod that are shwing up already this season and just wonderd were most of them are being caught. Im thinking of fishing spurn in the next few weeks, does anyone know how its being fishing? Dev :D

Its my second year of winter codding so just wanted to know if the cod season has officially started and also when should we start to see good numbers of cod being caught please?

Yeh i personally think for a good all round boat rig you cant beat the reliable hokkis, string of three with 4'O hooks. I find the pink lures work the best though it dosent always work like that. Also there as cheap as chips, 80p each in whitby!
