Hi Read articles in TSF and Sea Angler, Steve Almark went to Minnis Bay on a night tide and produced as he always does, and I guess he can cast miles, which may help, and Shane Pullen caught them on Admiralty for Sea Angler, so I think they would be the hot spots. Is one fish I would like to add to ...

Samphire fishing report 09/05

Fished 10.30 til 4, high tide @ 12. Had 12 fish between 3 of us, 8 to Eva, 1 to Jim and 3 for me. Mostly wrasse, few pouting, rockling and a decent dogfish. Jim's first time so wished he'd caught a bigger share but he enjoyed it. Water was lively when we got there but calm by 4, great weather and a ...

Hi No you want to avoid the town. There is a turning off the roundabout on the main road which joins Ramsgate to Deal. I go there via the Thanet Way, due to where I live, follow the signs for Sandwich, then ignore the first two rounadbouts with left turns showing the town, and take the left turn on ...

Don't think you can, far as I understand they hunt by sight which is why they are around more in clear still waters. Like you I might have a go if other fishing is quiet, why not, it's a bit of fun. I made a smoker out of an old wok, co-op sell wood chips which are great for it. Gotta admit the firs...

Great day!
Big thanks from Eva and myself, especially to Sue, great job, very well organised and fantastic raffle prizes.
Thank-you to all for your friendliness, especially Seaferret who made us feel very welcome!

Looking forward to the return match, the trophy won't be in Esex for long!!!

Your rod should give it's casting weight limits. Don't exceed this, I did once using a 5oz weight on a bass rod accidentally, snapped the end off! Whatever weight you use make sure the shockleader is at least 10x in numbers, ie weight of 5oz use at least 50lb shockleader, however I usually add 10 so...

Had that problem with 15lb Berkely Whiplash Pro, bit gutted as it was expensive. Was using 15-70 tapered leaders but broke a few times reeling in! Had a break off too, think the advice about abrasion on the line from shingle beaches could be right. Gone onto 20lb Whiplash Crystal and no problems. an...

Well done for having a go, I tried for rays last two years and blank after blank seems inevitable, I never managed one, but they are there, just knowing when!!

Fishing Comp 26/04/09

Feal a bit awkward asking this but......
will there be any fish at next weeks comp to catch???
Reports for Sheppey don't seem good, I don't fish Sheppey often as it doesn't seem a good venue apart from the speculative session for rays at warden bay / leysdown.

Hi You are probably being a bit hard on yourself. Fishing one bait is probably a mistake, nothing wrong with mackeral but a worm alternative is usually a good idea, and offer a variety of baits if you can afford it. Hythe has fished ok for me recently but nothing big. I don't know how you fish but a...

Hi It is a good venue, and usually fishes quite well, but it is a tackle graveyard!! I've lost more stuff there than any venue in Kent which is why you'll see people float fishing there. Gets busy summer weekends when the mackeral show. Also don't be put off by the opening hours, security will open ...
